Step one: Your LASIK Evaluation
Please allow 2 hours for your evaluation.
- A LaserOne patient counselor will review your medical history.
- Your current vision prescription will be measured.
- We'll answer any questions you may have.
- We'll discuss payment and financial plans.
- The following tests will be performed.
You will need to remove your contact lenses
before your evaluation.
Contact lenses restrict the eye and alter the natural shape of your cornea. Removing your contact lenses allows the cornea to return to its natural shape. Additionally, contact lenses may affect the tear film in your eye.
- For standard LASIK, soft contact lenses must be removed 3 days prior to the evaluation date.
- For standard LASIK, hard contact lenses
must be removed 10 days prior to the evaluation date.
- For custom LASIK, soft lenses must be removed at least 2
weeks prior to the evaluation date.
- For custom LASIK, hard lenses must be removed at least 3
weeks prior to the evaluation date.
The information above is the minimum amount of time you will
need to out of your contact lenses. Please note: whether you are
undergoing custom LASIK or standard LASIK, you will need to remove
your contact lenses at least 2 weeks (for soft lens wearers) or 1
month (for hard lens wearers) prior to your surgery.
Dilation drops will be used during your examination.
Dilating the pupil makes you more sensitive to sunlight for a few hours and driving a car may be difficult.
You may want to consider public transportation, arrange for a friend to accompany you, or allow time for your eyes to return to normal prior to driving.
Reading may also be difficult for several hours after dilation.
