NEW YORK JETS STAR WIDE RECEIVER
    WAYNE CHREBET UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL
    LASER VISION SURGERY AT LASERONE

NEW YORK — Footballs might start appearing as big as the Goodyear® blimp to Wayne Chrebet, now that the New York Jets star wide receiver has undergone successful laser vision correction.

The 15-minute procedure, performed recently by Dr. Richard Koplin, Medical Director at LaserOne Vision Correction on Park Avenue in midtown Manhattan, has significantly enhanced Chrebet's vision to 20/15.

Chrebet suffered with myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism and relied on contact lenses throughout his record-setting college football career at Hofstra University and during his five seasons with the Jets. He said the swirling winds at Giants Stadium, where the Jets play their home games, often caused his eyes to dry out, a condition made worse by his reliance on contact lenses. With his successful surgery at LaserOne, he no longer will require corrective lenses of any sort.

"Wayne was a great patient," explains Dr. Koplin. "He has small eyes, so it made the procedure a little more difficult, but the results were excellent. He'll be able to play football without contacts and, in addition to seeing the field perfectly, he won't have to worry about getting hit and losing one or both of the contacts in the turf."

Chrebet, noted for his clutch third-down pass receptions, established the NFL mark for most receptions by a player during his first two seasons (150). Despite suffering a broken bone in his foot in the preseason finale last year against the Vikings and missing five games, he still caught 48 passes for 631 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games. Now about to embark on his sixth season, the 5-10, 188-pound Garfield, New Jersey native has amassed 331 receptions for 4148 yards and 21 touchdowns in 75 career games.
