I had worn glasses and contact lenses most of my life due to being nearsighted and having astigmatism. Without wearing glasses or contacts, I couldn't clearly see the pool table from 3 feet away much less the pool balls.

Professional billiards is a game that demands total concentration and flawless vision. I was worried that wearing contact lenses could ultimately hurt my performance. My eyes always seemed to be dry, red, and irritated, especially during long matches. I was constantly blinking- trying to get a clearer view of the shot. How fascinating and wonderful life has been since I had laser vision correction surgery at LaserOne to correct my 20/500 vision. As corny as it sounds, I feel like a youngster again, and I greet each day with an almost giddy perspective. I DON'T WEAR GLASSES ANYMORE!! Correcting my vision at LaserOne has been one of the most exciting events of my life! I have worn glasses or contact lenses since the seventh grade, and I know I do not have to explain what an inconvenience that was. I had 20/150 vision. Now, I have 20/15 vision!! I have never been able to see so well. (My boyfriend has given me the new "pet" name "Eagle Eye!") I can watch TV until I fall asleep and see perfectly the minute I wake up. What I like even better than seeing so well is how great my eyes feel - no more tired, red, irritated eyes.

Being the biggest chicken ever, I was very nervous about the procedure. But everyone at LaserOne was so comforting and explained everything about the LASIK procedure in detail. I will always remember that life-changing experience, at 10 years of age, when I first saw the world through glasses. My eye doctor told me to take a look out the window and for the first time ever I could read street signs and identify individual leaves on trees. It was amazing. Now with LASIK surgery I just relived that experience, only better.

I’d been toying with the idea of getting my vision corrected for years, but I kept finding excuses. Being a professional billiards player, I was scared because my eyes are my livelihood, and I assumed that I wasn’t a candidate for LASIK because of my severe astigmatism. On both counts I was wrong.
